Halloween’s Over…Ka-Ching!

Hint: all those 20.00-40.00 costumes left over from Halloween will eventually cost 2.00-5.00 on clearance.  My kids have a dress up box chalk full o’ clearance Halloween costumes purchased for a few bucks each.  The best deal we have ever gotten on a costume was 2.00 for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (with detachable shell.)  My husband, Aaron, purchased a 40.00 spider man costume for 5.00 last year, and we saved it for our youngest son for Christmas.  My child was stoked to receive the exact suit he had been asking for.  Today, I picked up a girlie fairy outfit for a birthday gift, and there were several Hanna Montana wigs sitting on the shelf for just a few bucks each.  Why pay full price for them next month?  Usually the higher end more expensive costumes are the ones that are in abundance at the end of the season, so stock up for next year or sock them away for birthdays and Christmas.

Also, stores are practically giving away pumpkins right now.  I picked ours up on Halloween day for a 1.50 each, and there were tons left (literally.)  No way was I going to pay six bucks for something that would end up in the compost pile in a week.   Who says you have to carve pumpkins before Halloween?  My boys were thrilled to spend time with Daddy, and get make a huge mess season and roast their pumpkin seeds.  If you are really channeling Martha, you can make pumpkin pie, or soup too.

  1. Our pumpkin doesn’t look quite as bad as the ones in the picture, but I did notice it was getting black inside and if I look close enough, I’m sure I’ll see mold. I’m just not lookin’… :-)

  2. Dude I’ve been channeling Martha lately.

You are hitting your stride with the money angle.

Awesome! Picking up costumes for Christmas gifts is a brilliant idea!

Oh and lately I’ve been channeling a lot more Martha.

  3. i loaded up on the makeup for sam’s birthday party. he wants a soldier/army theme and there just happened to be camoflauge makeup kits on clearance :) :) :)

  4. Thanks Tracee <3

Good idea Dana. I also found that WM marked down gads of stuff to 1.00. I got three new work out shorts for a buck each. They are making serious room for Christmas right now.

  5. I love the post-halloween costume sales!! Its almost a yearly tradition to trudge off to Target and re-charge the dress-up box. Even better when those purchases show up next halloween as awesome re-made costumes.
