Back on the mat, and big dreams

No yoga post in a while for me because life has been busy, and my practice has suffered. I showed up late to the 8:00 Tues. class, and it was so packed we were practically mat to mat. My poor instructor was very ill for a week and a half and this was her first class back. Guess word got around that she was back in action!
The past couple of weeks have been brutal on my workout schedule, and it is so crazy what a difference it makes in my body (and mental health) when I miss a few sessions. That is my me time.
A good friend of mine encouraged me to create a dream board. At first I thought it was a little silly, but it helps you to focus on your dreams, big and small. A few things on my list are:
~Go on a big mission trip…Cambodia is on my heart.
~Run in a 5K
~Get back into an intensive Spanish Class
~Grow a large veggie garden
~Be more of an advocate on my local level for families with children who have disabilities
~Pay cash for my dream carÂ
~Hold the pose in the above picture for longer than two seconds

What a great list and I think it’s doable. Let’s mission trip to Bali though:-)

i like the idea of a dream board… a place to go to, to remind myself that i’m still a person who has, well, dreams.

I’m impressed you can do it for two seconds! I keep trying to do yoga, but I think I am too fat. I feel really awkward and my stomach gets in the way.
I have a journal that is like a dream board. I paste photos from magazines that represent my ambitions and values, messages from friends, poetry inspiring quotes etc. I like to look through it when I’m feeling down.

Dana, when the kids get a bit bigger you will come back to yourself. My babies are five going on six, so I certainly had a season where my dreams were put on hold. I don’t regret it though. I am so blessed to be able to stay at home. The sacrifice was/is worth it. I have a sense of “Hey! I remember YOU!” when I look in the mirror now.
Violet, keep at it. It gets better. Yoga was very awkward for me in the beginning. It may not be your niche exercise. Have you tried the elliptical? It is great. You burn major calories , like running, with NO joint impact. I do that while watching jeopardy

Can you seriously get totally off the ground like that? I’ve never tried that.

I have done it twice! But only momentarily. It’s HARD! Upper body strength is key, so I’ve been hitting the weights.
First you buckle your feet, then slide your hands through, next rock your body up on the back of your arm, lastly push out your legs with your core.
Heehee, see why it’s on my dream board. When my teacher was telling the class how to do it everyone just laughed, but I tried (and fell on my nose a few times…lol.) After several tries I got it for just a couple seconds. It was SO exhilarating.

Oh, and I do not have the height like the chic in the picture….yet. But, yes, I can get completely off the ground.
