If you have a rice cooker raise your hand…
I wanna know what you cook in yours! There was a nice large one on clearance at WM, so I grabbed it because we have been wanting to try our hand at sushi (still need to make it over to the HFS to get a bamboo mat, and Norri) but I was just curious what others whip up in this nifty little device.
So far I have only made regular brown rice for stirfry, and then I made chicken curry wrap filling, which I emulated from a delicious wrap I had at the Jamaican food wagon at Alley Fest. If anyone wants the “recipe” (I completely winged it) I would be glad to share.

I’ve thought about splurging on a rice maker, but it seemed like a tool that would get used so rarely (we do eat rice, but it’s not a staple) that I wasn’t sure if it would be worth it. I’d enjoy hearing other recipes, too!

i like rice, but don’t make it as often as i would because i always forget until it’s too late since we use the brown rice. when i was at the reynolds i bought her a rice maker for her birthday cause she had mentioned wanting one. once i saw it in action i decided i’d like one too, but probably won’t “splurge” on one for quite a while. anyways, i use rice for cajun rice and beans, mexican spaghetti, chicken fried rice, i add some to soups, with fish as a side dish… can’t think of anything else right now.

Dana, I know brown rice takes about two years to cook if you forget.
I like the rice cooker because you can cook the rice early in the afternoon, and leave it on warm without the rice overcooking to mush or sticking to the pan, etc… I find that you can easily build a meal around rice if it’s prepared in advance.
