Ouch…
*Warning* if you are one of my guy readers, I’m about to talk about boobs, and not in a fun way…don’t say you weren’t warned!
So, today I had to have a mammogram. Several in fact. I noticed a mass on my right side about a month or so ago. Aaron has been concerned and encouraged me daily to get it checked out, so I finally did. Mammograms are something like what I would imagine a medieval torture device to be like. Especially spot mammograms where the compress a specific area of concern. Oh my!!! Ouchie!
So, after taking several films. Waiting, and then taking several more I had to then have a sonogram (wasn’t expecting that,) and then the radiologist himself came in a did one. I was getting a little nervous, and poor Jonas sat like an angel in the waiting room for and hour and half. Thank goodness I knew the receptionist that so kindly kept and eye on him, and had the foresight to pack him a bag chalk full of activities.
The radiologist said he believes the mass to be a cystic growth, and they also found two more on that same side. So next Thursday I will be meeting with a surgeon to talk about the next step, which will probably be a biopsy. Groan! BUT I do feel better about it all because he doesn’t think it’s the big C. Thank you Lord!

Wow. You’re too young to have to have a mammogram!
I keep thinking I should get one in the next few years too. So sorry they found cysts but I agree Thank you Lord is isn’t cancer. Keep us updated. Love you.

Aww, love you too Steff. Really, they don’t recomend them routinely until age 40, but if you or your Dr. find anything suspicious for any reason they will usually order one.
This is the first year in a long, long time that I haven’t been pg, or nursing, and adimitedly I never really did exams until a few months ago.
You can get free mamograms in the month of October for breast cancer awareness month.
My senei is the one who really inspired me to go get checked out she is a breast, ovarian, and colon cancer survivor. She offered to go with me for my needle biopsy. It was really sweet. She’s one tough lady.

the mom of a friend of mine said that the best way to prepare for a mammogram was to lay down on the cold garage floor and have your husband run over your boob with the car

Your friend was not kidding.

Nice! Wow, I had no idea they were painful. I thought it was some type of x-ray or something. I think I would have been happier being so naive. Way to go Dana!

Dana’s description of a mammogram made me laugh out loud… and then grimace… Ouch!
I went to the doctor earlier this year with severly tender breasts and lumps and just concern about it. She checked me and said it was… something or another, but not cancer, just a tenderness that will occur before and during my period. She was right. Sometimes the pain is quite severe, but it does seem to follow the pattern. Don’t know why I shared that… I guess since everyone else was talking about boobs, I wanted to join in…
I hope your doctor gets a clear answer without a biopsy! Keep us updated.

Hey Jaime, if it’s fibroids (what I probably have too) they say to cut way back on caffine because it makes the cycst retain more fluid and become larger and more painful. Just FYI.

I’m SO relieved. Keep us posted! Love you.
