When Ailens Invade…Remember the Alamo!
Alamo Drafthouse Theater. It was really interesting because a.) I had never been to the drathouse, b.) I had never seen the original King Kong, and c.) learned a lot about stop motion animation.
The event was hosted by Film enthusiast Hary Knowles. We saw the film first, and then there was a Q & A session with Mr Haryhausen who created the classics Clash of the Titans (boy medussa was scary!,) and Jason and the Argonauts, among many others, and after we were the first audience to ever screen his new short “The Pit and the Pendulum.”
For those that have never been to the drafthouse I must say that the coolest feature was not the vintage posters that covered the walls, or the old flying saucer amusement ride carts hanging from the cieling, but THE FOOD! Each row of seats has a long bar style table in front of them, and servers come and take your order as the lights dim. They have a full service menu, and over 50 beers (including some amazing microbrew.) All the dishes have catchy movie names. Jodi, and I had the “poultrguiest” chicken pesto sandwich with falafel, and Aaron had the “Royal with Cheese” burger (of Pulp fiction fame.) They even had a $5.00 milk shake. lol. It was so neat to watch a movie while eating good food, and sharing a pitcher of beer.
