Ho, Ho, Ho…Merry Christmas Goodwill!

I have to stay on top of the clutter, especially this time of year. The boys receive excessive amounts of toys that they don’t need, so we open the new stuff and get rid of lots of the old. I have a rule that for every one item that comes in three must go out.

To some, like my mother, (who believes it is nothing short of child abuse) pruning toys may seem cruel. If they only knew that the kids are much happier when they don’t have to dig and dig through broken, non age appropriate, or non played with toys to find what they want only to deal with the frustration of picking up the sea of toys and drug out “stuff” minutes later.

Life is better when they can quickly find just what they want, and then easily pick up the toys that they brought out. Mom is much happier too.

Looking back now on the past few Christmas holidays, I wish we could bypass all the obligatory giving and do traditional holiday fare. Such as, caroling, visiting by a cozy fire, baking cookies for Santa, making homemade ornaments, etc..

Sigh.
